This independent much loved local in Devon currently has an opportunity for an accomplished creative head chef, who would like to have more of their own menu input, using fantastic local farm suppliers with the ambition to take the food up a notch from the existing classic British pub fare. The site has a strong music following with regular high profile bands playing. The owner has recently invested in the kitchen and is now seeking an accomplished head chef who has ambitions to make a name for themselves in the kitchen and become more of a destination foodie site. The site is set in a stunning rural Devon location and is surrounded by picturesque beaches and beautiful countryside. The trade is currently quite seasonal and the owner is therefore looking to promote the food offering by reinvestment in the kitchen and chef
Our client is looking for a Head chef who can deliver the following
Menu creation - elevating the current menu, working with seasonal produce and working with the local Devon farms and quality suppliers.
Responsibility for the daily Smooth Running of the Kitchen
Menu Planning – costing & recipe specification
Stock Control: Supplier Liaison, Ordering, Invoices, Stock Counting, Wastage Control Kitchen Rotas, Recruitment, Team Training & Development, Personnel Files, Maintaining GP
Due Diligence: Food Hygiene, H&S Records & Cleaning Rosters
Recruitment, training and mentoring a team
Hours 48 per week - support with initial accommodation
About you
You will be a real hands on head chef having worked in a foodie led environment and be an all rounder, capable and competent with an even measured temperament.
Will be highly organized
Will have experience in a similar concept/
Will be technically very capable
Will demonstrate a flexible and positive approach to work
Well organized
Up to date on current food and cooking trends
Able to manage all aspects of your kitchen
Want a new challenge in a stunning part of the country surrounded by lovely beaches and countryside
Car driver required.
